Vegan Sausage Rolls and Sausages now Selling at Aldi

Aldi Sausage Rolls made of soya only 30 pence each

Aldi is taking a leaf out of Greggs’ book and launching their own vegan sausage rolls, as reported in Chronicle Live.

A box of four will retail at £1.19 so that’s about 30 pence each. The “sausage” is made from soya.

The supermarket is also selling “No Beef Burgers” that look like a quarter pounder for £1.99. Whilst each patty has 19g of protein and the size, shape and colour are similar, in all other respects they are far removed as could be – they are made from wheat, soy, pea protein, onion and mushrooms.

Furthermore, the Mae’s Kitchen brand also has a “Vegan No Chicken Burger.” These are made with vegetable protein and have a golden crumb coating. Aldi naturally claims the burgers’ texture and taste can compare favourably to that of a chicken fillet.

Aldi says that “these delicious chicken alternatives will rival any fast-food chain favourites and will cost you a fraction of the price too…we know, it sounds too good to be true.”

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi, says: “The launch of our new vegan range is in response to our growing, ethically inspired customer base, looking for delicious alternatives to meat and another example of our ongoing commitment to cater for all diets, at everyday low prices. We look forward to expanding our vegan offering even further over the coming months.”

Aldi is fully on-board with the vegan trend.
